Newly organized in 2000, Choi, Kim & Partners provides our international and domestic clients a full
legal service center as a result of a partnership agreement with the law office of Kim, Yang & Kwon, which has
experience in intellectual property and business related matters, including Patent Court proceedings and patent
infringement actions. The partnership brings together lawyers and patent attorneys to provide not only effective
representation before the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) and the courts, but also, a group of highly
responsible professionals who have a vested interest in staying with the partnership to insure stability and
continuity in any proceedings brought before KIPO or the courts by our clients.
The partners in Choi, Kim & Partners have experience either as a patent examiner, as a trial examiner
or as an appellate trial examiner (now Industrial Property Tribunal, IPT), and this experience brings about
results for our clients not only in prosecution proceedings, invalidation proceedings, opposition proceedings,
confirmation of scope trials, appeals to the IPT, from the IPT to the Patent Court and, finally, to the Supreme
Court, but also in patent actions brought as patent infringement actions, seeking a preliminary/permanent injunction
and damage compensation, among other remedies or defenses, in the courts. The depth of the partners legal,
technical and business experience enables Choi, Kim & Partners to consistently, efficiently and effectively
provide of the highest quality of work.
In support, there are 40 technology specialists each of whom have been formally educated in almost
every major area of technology for which protection is available in Korea, including the emerging technologies
such as business model, genetic material, biotechnology and internet related matters.
